In order to encourage Texas Baptists to participate in the democratic process, the CLC works at the Capitol to bring a biblical perspective to public policy, provides resources, and encourages Texas Baptists to engage in informed advocacy on public policy issues affecting their churches and communities.
Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.
While advocating for the oppressed and speaking truth to power, we provide information on public policy issues such as Racial Justice, Criminal Justice, Education, Gambling, and Immigration, so that the world we live in can reflect Biblical truth. If you are interested in learning more about a specific topic, submit an inquiry request here.
Our team is happy to provide you with a biblical perspective on the challenging public policy issues of the day. If you would like to host a workshop, conference, or have a guest speaker come to discuss a particular topic, please contact us at john.litzler[at]txb.org.
Each session, the Christian Life Commission puts forth Public Policy Priorities. We also provide End of Session Reports from past sessions.
Public policy touches the lives of all Texans and Advocacy Day equips Texas Baptists to take a biblical approach to public policy and advocacy. Advocacy Day provides an opportunity to learn more about how public policy is a tool for loving for our neighbors, pursuing public justice, and raising the interests of the vulnerable. Attendees have the opportunity to attend workshops, connect with other advocates, and meet with their elected officials.
Each year the Christian Life Commission hosts our Texas Baptists pastors in Austin, TX, and equips them to advocate with their area representatives.
